Milani Color Statement Matte Lipsticks: Review + Swatches

header
Milani just came out with their new Color Statement Matte Lipsticks. Milani is very possibly my favorite drugstore brand. The second I heard they were coming out with a new matte lipstick line I was flooded with anticipation.

I FINALLY came across the golden tubes full of colorful Matte wonderfulness right after New Year’s. The new line contains eight matte shades. I picked up Matte Naked, Matte Blissful, Matte Orchid, Matte Passion, and Matte Confident. As much as I wanted to grab them all to add to my hoard of lipsticks I decided to grab for the shades I would use the most. I purchased them at my local CVS for $5.79 a lipstick.

Matte Naked is a dark Nude Matte. It     is perfect if you are going for that 90s Matte lip that is so on trend right now. Matte Blissful is a baby pink with a hint of lilac. This one I was on the fence about when I was looking at them in the tube. Baby pink lipsticks rarely work on me. Whenever I applied this to my lips I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it looked. Matte Orchid is my favorite of the bunch. It is a bright pink with a tint of berry. It’s the perfect bold lip. Matte Passion is a warm tone red/orange. I have recently fallen in love with warm tone red lipsticks and Matte Passion is adding to my affair. Matte Confident is a bold red. This is a great classic matte red lipstick.

I give the Color Statement Matte Lipsticks two thumbs up. They have great pigmentation, go on creamy, and have a great range of colors. The color starts to wear off around four or five hours, but wears off evenly. I do wish they had come out with more shades. I would have liked to see a plum or a neutral pink. The biggest issues with these is that some of the colors can highlight the flaws in your lips more than others. The scent of these lipsticks is a very subtle vanilla which makes me like them even more. A smelly lipstick is a deal breaker.

As with any matte lipstick you do have to make sure that your lips are moisturized and exfoliated. I did notice that Matte Blissful highlighted my dry patches more than any of the other colors, but my lips hate winter and are perpetually chapped.

These are quality inexpensive lipsticks. I recommend giving the Milani Color Statement Matte Lipsticks a try. Even if you’re not a huge fan of Matte lipsticks or you have never tried Matte lipsticks these would be a good place to start.

Have you tried any of the New Milani Matte Lipsticks? Do you have a favorite Matte Lipstick? If so what is it?

  1. So you have inspired me to wear lipstick. I always felt like it looked weird on me but since your first blog I have just been going for it and I have actually gotten a few compliments! I might have to give these a try since I have only been using some super old freebies to experiment with!

    • I’m glad! I know what you mean I felt like that too! I always wanted to wear lipstick I just thought it would be weird, but I just went for it! 🙂 These are really great the new matte line only has about 8 shades in this line. Milani also has the Color Statement lipsticks that aren’t matte in 30+ shades. So lots to choose from!!

  2. Do you know if they have the same scent as the original milani lipsticks? Like the watermelon scent? I cannot stand that scent and its the only thing that keeps me away from the milani lipsticks cause theyre so beautiful.
