Two Months

2-month

You turned two months old this past week.  Life with you has settled down and the Lee family has our new normal.  Every day is a blessing me and it amazes me and breaks my heart at the same time at how quickly you are growing up.  You are smiling, cooing, and sometimes even chuckling.  You are no longer a little lump of cuteness, but a baby boy that is starting to interact with your surroundings.

two-month-elliott-text

You are a big boy.  At your two month appointment the doctor exclaimed “oh Lord” when he read your height and weight stats.  Then very quickly apologized for the slip.  You weighed 14 lbs 10 ounces and were almost 25 inches tall.  That puts you in the 95th percentile for height and weight and the size of an average 4 month old.

You still love looking out the window, your pretty down with your swing, you LOVE smiling at the toys on your bouncer, you enjoy being worn by mama in your baby K’tan (you would sleep in their forever), you are a fan of baths, and overall your pretty good with anything.  You don’t like your feet touched much and you don’t love you car seat.  You don’t hate your car seat, but you don’t really sleep in it unless we are moving and if you are awake in it you don’t last long before you want out.

I heard your cry a little more this month, but only a handful of times.  Almost every single one of them were on days where you were running errands with me all day and you were just done.  But for a two month old you do great keeping up with your mama on busy days.

You and your sister are still getting along great.  For the most part she goes on with her busy toddler life, but occasionally makes a pit stop to give you a hug, put in a paci, or share a stuffed animal.  She also loves treating you like her little baby doll (under mommas supervision).  She tries to swaddle you, helps with diapers (shes oddly obsessed with your poop), hold you, and cuddle you.

Your eating and sleeping great.  When you get a bottle you eat almost four ounces.  No wonder you are such a big guy.  You eat about every three hours during the day with lots of sleep in between and then usually give me a six to eight hour stretch at night.

We had lots of adventures this month.  We went to the park, chick fil a (or as aria calls it “chicken fil a”), science spectrum, out to eat, the duck pond, the splash pad, dance classes and this month we had our first big family vacation with you.  You travel great!  You just slept the whole car ride.  We went to San Antonio and then down to Hunt Texas to go hang out by the river with Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Sarianna.  It was so beautiful.  You didn’t get to go swimming yet, but you got loved on by your grandma and grandpa and you got to sit by the river and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

We are so blessed that God has given us this little family.  Every day is “the best day ever”.

One Month

elliott one month with facts

Are we really here? Has it already been a month? How did this even happen?

Today you are one month old, my sweet little boy.

elliott chair with eight

You came into this world one month ago a week past your due date.  You were completely content to stay growing in mamas belly.  Little did I know this would be a precurser to what kind of personality you would have once you joined us in this world.  Life with you has been smooth sailing.  You are the most content little boy I have ever met.

Put you in front of a window you are happy.

Hold you close and life is good.

Put you down to rest and you sleep.

Go for a car ride and you roll with it.

Wear you in your baby wrap and you sleep the entire time.

I honestly think I have only heard you cry twice. The first time was when you were brought into this world from the warmth of my womb into the bright lights of the operating room.  The second time was when I went far too long putting you off to eat and chose to drive you home then feed you instead of feeding you before we got in the car. You cried the entire way home.

You may or may not always be this content, but for now I am basking in your content sweetness.  That is who you are right now.

This first month has been a blessing.  I have been so focused on you that I have hardly taken a picture of anything, but you and your sweet face.  I will have to work on taking pictures of you AND others.

Life did not pause for you little man.  I guess that’s the trouble of being the second child.  You have been on play dates, to the grocery store, to target (duh), to coffee shops, out to eat, a funeral, the farmers market, and many many other places.

This month you met lots of important people.  Nanny and Pops came to visit you first thing in the hospital. Grandma, Grandpa, and your Aunt Sarianna came to visit you as soon as we got out of the hospital.  They stayed with us for a few days to help out.  It was such a blessing.  You met one of Mamas best friends, Ashley, who came into town to tell us she was engaged (YAY!!!).  You met all the ladies in our lifegroup when you crashed our ladies IF:table. You got to meet some old friends at Nannys.  You met all the people that work in pops office including your Uncle and mommas cousin when we went to pops office to visit.  You have met so many people who love you and you will meet so many more.

You love to sleep, but are starting to be awake more and more during the day. You have started to coo in your awake time and when you grunt it sounds like you are chuckling. You especially love sleep at night.  You usually sleep for about 5 or 6 hours straight which has been glorious.  You are a big ol boy.  You were 9 lbs 4 oz at birth and now are 12 lbs 2 oz at one month.  To put that in perspective for you, your sister was 7 lbs 7 oz at birth and at FOUR months was 11 lbs 14 oz.

Speaking of your sister she loves you so much and I think you love her to.  She loves to hold you, but only for a short time because that means she has to sit still.  She is always wanting to help change diapers and she wants so badly to be able to pick you up.  Sometimes I let her help pick you up… which is awkward, but makes her feel important.  When I am feeding you she will sometimes sit next to me and count your little toes or pat your sweet head.  She is a great big sister.

You have started smiling for us.  You especially like to smile for your daddy.  Daddy holds you and talks to you and you smile big for him and sometimes you talk back.

This month you have had a bottle twice.  The first time you downed two ounces from your daddy while mommy was at the movies with a friend.  The second time you downed four ounces from your Nanny while mommy and daddy went on our first date.  We missed you, but enjoyed our mommy, daddy time and are so thankful for Nanny watching you.

This month has been such a blessing and we are so glad that you finally got forced out of my belly and joined our little family.  I love this new normal.  Me and your daddy love this life we have been given and the joy of being your parents.

A Classy Fourth of July

jaclyn2015-1Happy Fourth of July!!! This has been a wonderful weekend so far. We decided to stay around town instead of attempting a quick trip (which can be stressful especially with a toddler). I am SO glad we did. Yesterday was a fabulous day. My hubby, daughter and I spent the morning messing around the house and playing outside. Later we met up with family to swim. I LOVE swimming. I’m pretty sure I was a mermaid in another life. This morning we are participating in some local Independence Day fun that’s going on at the park just across my house. I chose this classic ensemble for a BBQ with some friends and family later tonight. It’s perfect for getting into the spirit of the holiday, but with a touch of class! To me everything about this outfit screams America. When I am wearing it I just want to be holding a hot apple pie!

The Perfect Summer Bucket List

bucket list 4

I love summer. I love the long days, popsicles, the warmth of the sun on my skin, shorts, flowing dresses, sandals, playing at the park with my daughter, swimming… I LOVE it all. That is why I decided to create a summer bucket list. I want to make sure I fit in EVERYTHING before summer comes to a grinding hault and I have to whip out my sweaters and boots. This list includes things I want to do for myself, with my daughter, with my husband, and my friends. Being a working mom, often times, I forget about having fun and enjoying life (who doesnt really), making a bucket list is the perfect way to make sure I enjoy the things I love most about a season or a certain time a year. It is so easy to get caught up in the things you have to do and completely miss out on doing things you love. Hope you enjoy my bucket list for summer 2015! Continue reading

Colourpop Summer Collection: Swatches + Mini Review

IMG_2862

Colourpop is quickly becoming one of my go-to makeup brands. If you are not familiar with Colourpop, they are an online only makeup brand based out of Los Angeles that JUST had their first birthday.  They are one of the fastest up and comers due to the uniqueness and quality of their products.  Their eye shadows, lippie stix, and lip pencils are $5 a piece and all blushes, bronzers, and highlighters and $8 apiece (aka dang affordable). I recently went a little crazy and hauled some things from their summer collection, as well as a few new permanent releases.  I have tried most of them and I love them.  Here are some of the goodies I got.

Lorac Pro Contour Palette: Review + Swatches

IMG_2803

Are you tired of me reviewing contour palettes yet?  Too bad here is another.  Lorac is about to Launch their Lorac Pro Contour Palette.  I was fortunate to get my hands on one before the official release. This palette has three contour shades, three highlight shades, and a synthetic contour brush.  The packaging is very sleek, slim and similar to the Lorac Pro Eyeshadow Palettes.    This is a very similar set up to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit, the Kat Vond D Shade of light Palette, and The Nyx Highlight and Contour Pro Kit (which I recently reviewed).

Urban Decay Afterglow 8 Hour Powder Blush in Bittersweet

IMG_2358

I was so excited to hear that Urban Decay was releasing a blush line. The Urban Decay Afterglow 8 hour powder blush line has twelve shades with some pretty scandalous names (umm quickie?!). I knew I wanted to pick up one of these blushes with a Sephora gift card my husband and daughter got me for Mothers (awwww). Bittersweet is a straight up purple blush. I have nothing like Bittersweet in my collection and I was really drawn to the color so in my collection it went.
